MAN. What part do they play?

Love, need, follow, befriend…honor, respect, obey…whatever your role is in life-MAN plays a part. Gen. 2:7 Not all men deserve the respect and honor they command. Not all show that same honor and respect to others.
As I read #Man in the book #RICH, I was humbled by the ever-present reminder that I have an amazing man. I am very aware that our life is a gift, and our lives together-an even greater one. The relationship we are blessed to have is not taken for granted. Some men are so full of pride and hate, and arrogance- that they treat everyone around them with contempt or dishonor, especially those that are closest to them. Some men are amazing, and some are taken too soon-leaving sweet family and friends behind. Several around us all have such heartbreaking, now hopefully healing lives.

Our story in a nutshell: Roy and I met in college, dated for three years, and married in 1989. We will, Lord willing-celebrate our 29th anniversary this coming June. God is THE TRUE King, but the key? Roy is the king in our home. To make everything work, as God planned…I am to be a submissive wife. (As I sometimes request, no comments from the peanut gallery!) Trust me-and I think you can guess-I am not a doormat, y’all. The amazing part? What makes that work?
*He treats me like a queen.*
TN Roy and Me
That is the “secret” to our marriage of 28 years and counting, and my guess? It’s the same “secret” of happy longevity in any relationship. When a man treats his woman like a queen, she can easily return the love, respect and honor due him. I am floored and grateful every day. Do I deserve such a husband? Simply put…no. Do I love him with all my heart? Honor him? Cherish our time together? Savor the joy we have in the mundane and in the special times? Love how he’s been the example to our boys of how to treat a woman? Anticipate an abundance of wonderful years ahead?
*Absolutely!*
I know there are women who show respect and submit because they are afraid not to. That truly makes my heart sad. Sad for them, and for why they feel they must. I know not everyone had a God-fearing, leader of a dad to show a wonderful picture of how marriage should look. I did, and I’m thankful. My prayer-warrior mom passed away in 2011, but she was an amazing example of a happy, submissive role in marriage. Again, so very aware I am undeserving to be so blessed, but also ever-aware His mercies are new every morning, and I am forever grateful!
Roy Thomas I love you.
The simple truth is: neither of us are perfect and we never will be…BUT also the truth? YOU ARE the perfect man for me! I have BIG FAITH that we will grow old together! (Oh, wait. We already have! Hahaha!  Age is just a number.  I love you even more, now! Can’t wait to keep going!!
Every day!!) <3 <3
