Categorizing your storms

The enemy can grip your heart with the proverbial “What if?” -when the weather shows a huge storm coming your way.  Category 1?  Well, surely almost anyone can stand a “little” wind and rain.  Category 2, or 3?  That’s more serious, and we’d better secure lose ends in the yard, gas up, and stock up on all the necessaries in case/for when the power goes out.  Category 4?  Start making travel plans to get as far away as you safely are able, if you are able.  But…when you see a Category FIVE?  Preparation mode is decisive.  Defense mode is in full play, and things start to get very serious.  Category 5 is not to be taken lightly.  185 mile an hour winds?  I shudder to think how life would be affected for those caught in the wall of that kind of a storm.  Water rising, wind blowing-both furious, and fast, and devastating.
The only trouble is…we don’t ever really know when-or even IF we will have a direct hit.  There are predictions, and charts, and lots of discussion of storms past.  There are lines in the stores, and stress, and panic-stricken people clamoring to get the next thing marked off the list.  Prices go up.  Sun goes down.  Another day has passed.  Welcome to Hurricane Season.  Yesterday, the National Hurricane Center shared the looming storm has become the STRONGEST Atlantic basin hurricane ON RECORD-outside of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, and it is moving towards FL.  It may veer to the right, or left, or hit this beautiful state head on.  I don’t know where it will land.  What I do know?  I know the Master of the wind.  The maker of the waves.  Only He can calm the storm, and only He can calm our hearts.   What we need?  Big faith.  Faith that no matter what storm comes our way, that He is in control.  That we can do our best to be prepared, and that He will be with us before…during…and after any storm that comes.  Your storm may not have one thing to do with the weather.  It may be a chilly relationship.  It may be a hot temper.  It may be the loss of a warm welcome from a faithful pet, or the absence of an income.  Whatever you are facing today, you can get through it.  Others will rally around you.  Timely examples shown by the flood of emotions-turned help, brought on by recent events in Houston, etc.  The enemy wants us to go through life afraid….always wondering “WHAT IF…?”  But-we are not even promised tomorrow, y’all.  We can dream, and hope, and work, and prepare, but the only time we truly have?  It’s now.  This moment.  Refuse to let it slip away.  Make the decision to make the most of this gift we’ve been given, and to help others make the most of theirs.  You can do big things.  Only you can reach your potential.  Authentically.  But we cannot- if we don’t believe we can.
Have faith.
Big, all-encompassing, storm-surviving, weather dissipating, Plus-Sized Faith!

Plus-sized faith today,  1f499(1)Donnarae
