It’s the most wonderful time of the year, y’all. We often have opportunity to spend time with friends and family, have guests and goodwill, and everything absolutely sparkles! Or…does it? Have you SEEN the lines for returns?
Even during the Holiday season, the choice is always ours. Are we present? Or, are we too focused on what we received-or how we’re perceived, to pay attention to what really matters? Do we look forward to the parties, and guests, and occasions-or do we panic/stress a little about getting everything done/purchased/cooked/cleaned in time? Are the thoughts of what food/decorations/cleaning/clothes/gifts/etc. what stands out most?
I get needing to return something, most of us have, for various reasons. Perhaps is wasn’t a good fit. The wrong color, or look, or smell, or book. Maybe it didn’t work like we thought it should…or worse…at all. If something is not right, we should fix it.
I get wanting things to be “just-so” when company is coming. But. I also get that the most wonderful memories are often the people. The warm hugs of greeting, the smiles, the love. The way eyes light up when you come into view, or when that person mentions your name. The feeling of almost tangible joy simply by being in the same room/reading that card/receiving that message or text.
That feeling? It’s love. Unassuming, non-judging, accepting you-for-you kind of love. The kind of love memories are made of. The good ones.
Did you get that for Christmas this year? Did you give it?
When we focus on the greatest gift of all…God’s love…everything else pales by comparison. When wrapped by that gift, everything else seems to settle into place, and begin to “sparkle.” I’m so grateful. And…I hope those that we were (and are) blessed to connect with this season, will “know us by our love.” Shine on, y’all!
Plus-sized faith today,
Donnarae
